Learn the technique that has inspired Gaudi's art in his own home. Gaudi has radically changed the approach to mosaics mixing traditional, square cut tesserae with irregularly shaped pieces selected from broken ceramic tile - a technique appropriately called broken tile mosaics. His art has inspired artists around the world and keeps inspiring generations of artists who come to Barcelona to contemplate his creations and learn this inspiring technique.
Mosaic is a decorative technique that allows you to create pictures and patterns on a surface by setting small coloured pieces of glass, marble or other materials in a bed of cement, plaster or adhesive. Practitioners will be introduced to the three main ways of constructing mosaics: the direct method, the indirect method and the double indirect method. Enjoy the attributes of mosaic art and the light-catching qualities of the glass tesserae used to create your own mosaic. No previous experience required.
